Striker Youssef En-Nesyri may have left the door open for a move to West Ham in the summer after his honest comments.

The Hammers have been linked with Sevilla striker En-Nesyri for the last three transfer windows.

The Spanish club rejected West Ham’s advances amid talk of a £35m move previously – something a recent report suggests they regret (Sport Witness).

West Ham got a measure of revenge when they knocked Sevilla and En-Nesyri out of the Europa League last season.

Last month it was claimed En-Nesyri is keen on a move to West Ham in January and Sevilla want to sell.

And earlier this week it was confirmed West Ham launched a new bid to sign Nayef Aguerd’s Morocco teammate.

West Ham are seriously struggling to score goals this season with a pathetic 15 in 18 matches. That profligacy is the fundamental reason the Hammers are teetering on the brink of the relegation zone and braced for a season-long battle to avoid the drop.

The West Ham board have pledged to back David Moyes to bring more goals into the side by signing a striker this month, hence the move for En-Nesyri.

Unfortunately word broke this week that the aerially excellent and fleet-footed forward had snubbed West Ham.

But on closer examination there may yet be hope of a future deal for the east Londoners.

Because striker En-Nesyri may have left the door open for a move to West Ham in the summer after his honest comments.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER En-Nesyri chose his words carefully when pledging the rest of this season to helping Sevilla, who – like West Ham – sit 17th in the table.

And the Moyes target also put on record his gratitude to West Ham for showing interest in him.

“I thank all the clubs that have contacted my agent, but at the moment I want to have my head only in Sevilla,” En-Nesyri told Cadena SER in comments from the full interview.

“It’s not a money issue, but a sporting issue.

“I want to help the team in their worst moment.”

The fact En-Nesyri is grateful for West Ham’s interest coupled with the fact he stated ‘at the moment’ very much leaves the door ajar for this move to be resurrected come the summer window.

The West Ham ship may have sailed for the Moroccan by then, though, if the Hammers manage to sign an alternative this month.
