Sky Sports have delivered an exciting update on a West Ham move for 24-goal striker Viktor Gyokeres but there are two potential problems.

It’s undoubtedly going to be another busy summer transfer window for West Ham with several key positions in need of strengthening again.

The now inevitable mega money departure of Declan Rice means the Hammers will have some serious money to spend again.

West Ham must address a number of areas with central midfield a clear priority if and when Rice is sold.

But sorting out the striker situation is not far behind.

The future of all three West Ham strikers Gianluca Scamacca, Michail Antonio and even Danny Ings looks uncertain beyond this summer.

So it is no surprise to see West Ham already being linked with interest in a number of forwards.

The club has been rumoured to be interested in Coventry’s brilliant Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sun recently claimed David Moyes has been personally attending Coventry City games to run the rule over former Brighton prospect Gyokeres.

But when it comes to the transfer window and speculation, it’s difficult to know what to believe.

Hammers interest is real source tells Sky Sports

Now Sky Sports has delivered an exciting update on a West Ham move for 24-goal striker Gyokeres but there are two problems.

Sky Sports claims one of its sources has confirmed West Ham are seriously interested in signing Gyokeres this summer.

The report states the Hammers are admirers of the Swedish star, who also has 11 assists this season.

The 24-year-old recently admitted he is aware of the interest in him from the likes of West Ham and will assess his situation in the summer.

Potential issues but Gyokeres is exactly the sort of player West Ham should be targeting

There are two potential problems for the Hammers in getting a deal done for the £20m rated star, though.

Because the new report states that Wolves are also extremely keen and currently ‘lead the race’.

And if Coventry – who face Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off semi-finals over the next week – are promoted to the Premier League then Gyokeres may stay at the club.

It is exciting that West Ham’s interest in Gyokeres is real. He is exactly the sort of young, powerful Championship talent the Hammers should be targeting.
