Sky Sports has delivered a breaking news update on West Ham United’s move for Jesse Lingard in the summer window.

The Lingard West Ham saga continues unabated but it seems there are more encouraging updates emerging by the day.

Everyone knows David Moyes has been desperate to bring Lingard back to West Ham on a permanent basis following that scintillating six-month loan spell in the second half of the 2020/21 season.

That move reignited Lingard’s stagnant career and elevated West Ham to another level too.

Pundits and fans feel it is a match made in heaven. But despite relentless speculation, the move looked unlikely as recently as a couple of weeks ago.

At the weekend the likes of Sky Sports reported that West Ham had made a formal offer to the playmaker.

BBC journalist Simon Stone revealed his sources had informed him Moyes was focused on signing Lingard and Armando Broja having completed the captures of Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola.

And transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano made a similar claim today.

Now Sky Sports has delivered a breaking news update on the West Ham move for Jesse Lingard.

Sky Sports claim West Ham are now just waiting for Lingard’s answer and ‘remain hopeful’ he will join the club.

“West Ham are still waiting for a decision from Lingard regarding his future,” Sky Sports claim.

“West Ham themselves feel they have made a good offer and remain hopeful he will sign.”

Lingard officially becomes a free agent tomorrow after the expiration of his Man United contract.

Some West Ham fans may well be sick and tired of the Lingard saga.

But there is no getting away from the fact landing him on a free transfer would be sensational business.

West Ham fans saw the drop off in quality between their former loan star and someone like Nikola Vlasic last season.

So it can only improve the Hammers if Moyes does manage to lure him back to the London Stadium.
