The 27-year-old has endured a very up and down start to life at the London Stadium. He suffered a serious injury before the Premier League season even started last year. When he did regain full fitness he showed some really impressive form.

However, Aguerd is incredibly inconsistent, and put in a really poor display against Chelsea yesterday – one that culminated in his sending off. He was absolutely savaged by Jamie Carragher for his performance.

Shock claim made about the future of Nayef Aguerd at West Ham
According to Foot Mercato, the Morocco international is being eyed up for a surprise return to Rennes before the transfer window slams shut.
And what’s more, the Hammers centre-back is being described as ‘open to a return to Ligue 1’.

I’m sorry but I just can’t see any truth to this at all.
West Ham need to strengthen our central defensive ranks, not weaken them. There is absolutely no way that Moyes would even consider letting Aguerd leave this summer, unless he had an unbelievable replacement lined up and ready to come in.
Nayef Aguerd is a very good defender and I’m sure that he’ll come good in the end for West Ham, in spite of his all too regular lapses in concentration and questionable decision making.
I would be truly shocked if the Moroccan left the London Stadium to return to Rennes before the end of the summer transfer window.
