Because Lazio have now made it clear they are willing to grant Milinkovic-Savic’s wish to leave this summer and have instructed his agent to find a buyer at the £35m mark.
That’s according to a new report from Calciomercato, which also claims the first farewells are already taking place between Lazio and Hammers target Milinkovic-Savic after his eight years in Rome.
it is a bargain due to the player only having a year left on his contract in the summer.
While that is great news for West Ham, it will likely mean sacrificing their hopes of signing Zielinski.
Because Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri – who himself has been linked with the West Ham job – wants the Napoli man as Milinkovic-Savic’s replacement.
