The Serie A midfielder who West Ham bid big for in the summer has spoken out on chances of a move as Piotr Zielinski’s contract runs down.
West Ham fans who followed the club’s big spending summer transfer window activity closely will recall the name Piotr Zielinski.
The Napoli star was heavily linked with West Ham all summer and the club reportedly made a bid worth in excess of £35m for his services – as reported by the likes of Corriere dello Sport, Casa Napoli and Sport Witness.
With just two years left on the Poland international’s contract at the time, Napoli were said to be keen to sell to West Ham.

But with the deal edging closer Zielinski reportedly decided to stay and prove himself an important part of what Luciano Spalletti was building in Naples.
On the face of it, Zielinski looks to have made a wise decision.
Because West Ham are battling to avoid relegation from the Premier League. But Napoli have cemented their reputations as one of the best footballing sides on the planet and are on the brink of a first title for decades with a strong chance of Champions League glory too.
Now the Serie A midfielder who West Ham bid big for in the summer has spoken on the chances of a move as Zielinski’s contract runs down.
The midfielder has been somewhat consigned to a more marginal role in the Napoli midfield at times this season.

And in the summer he will have just one year left on his deal.
So should West Ham be confident of signing him if they try again in the next window?
Well it seems highly unlikely with Zielinski adamant he wants to see out his contract at Napoli even if he doesn’t sign an extension.
“I feel great in Naples, ever since I arrived, I felt at home,” Zielinski told Calcio Mercato.
“I want to continue with this team. There’s a year and a half to go until the deadline, there’s no hurry.”
The slight glimmer of hope for West Ham, though, is that reports in Italy claim Napoli are eyeing another alleged Hammers target – Teun Koopmeiners – to replace him this summer (Sportface).
