Callum Wilson has been linked with a West Ham exit in the January transfer window.

The English striker moved to the London Stadium in the summer on a free transfer and has not been a regular starter for the Hammers.

While Wilson has impressed off the bench for West Ham in certain games in the Premier League this season, he has fallen in the pecking order after the signings of Pablo and Taty Castellanos.

Al-Shabab more likely to make approach for Callum Wilson

According to Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, Celtic are also considering signing Wilson in the January transfer window.

The SPFL giants have made an exploratory approach to see the 33-year-old’s level of interest, along with looking at his wage demands.

Still an awful lot of work to do…

West Ham could terminate Wilson’s contract and allow him to leave on a free transfer in the coming weeks.

Saudi Pro League sides Al-Ettifaq and Al-Shabab were keen on the Englishman before his summer move to the London Stadium.

It’s understood that the latter are more likely to explore a move for Wilson in this window if he shows an indication towards moving to the Middle East.

How many players are West Ham expected to sign in January?

Having signed two players, the Hammers have got off to a quick start in the January transfer window.

However, work is still left to be done about strengthening other areas of the pitch.

West Ham want a new goalkeeper in January, with Mads Hermansen potentially being shown the door.

A new centre-back is also being considered as the Irons have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, which is not helpful when they are fighting a relegation battle.

Eric Dier is linked with West Ham and recent developments suggest that his exit could be imminent.

The AS Monaco defender worked with the England international previously during their Tottenham days, and a reunion could be on the cards.

Two players are expected to move to the London Stadium in this transfer window, but there could be a midfielder who also joins.

However, that would depend on the situation at the end of the window.
