West Ham United allegedly have an offer on the table to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Mirror who claim that the Hammers have an offer on the table for the Manchester United ace.

There is some bad news though…

The 29-year-old is allegedly keen to join Jose Mourinho at AS Roma at the end of the season (The Mirror).

Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan with West Ham and he was a huge hit at the London Stadium.

David Moyes was a massive fan of Lingard and he still is. The Scot labelled him as an ‘incredible’ player last season (Claret and Hugh).

Moyes tried to bring the 29-year-old Manchester United ace to the London Stadium on deadline day in January (The Athletic’s David Ornstein). The Hammers obviously failed to get a deal done for Lingard but it seems as though we haven’t yet given up the ghost…

West Ham have Lingard offer on the table

The Mirror claims that the Hammers have already made an offer for Jesse Lingard.

The 29-year-old, who earns around £130k-a-week (The Daily Star), would prefer a move to Roma though.

If that is truly the case, then we need to move on from Lingard now.

Moyes’s obsession with signing the Manchester United ace has held us back during previous transfer windows.

And in all honesty, the Scot should be prioritising the additions of at least one striker, a centre-back, a left-back and two central midfielders this summer.

West Ham making an offer for Lingard means that Moyes is still desperate to bring him to the London Stadium.

And whilst Jesse would be a fine addition for the Hammers, there are certainly better and younger options out there for the East London outfit.

One thing’s for sure, signing another attacking midfielder should be well down on Moyes’s priority list in the summer transfer window.
