Burnley are refusing to sell James Tarkowski to West Ham in January according to a report from the Northern Echo.

The 29-year-old Burnley defender is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the January transfer window according to a report from The Sun.

David Moyes is seemingly keen to bolster his central defensive ranks after Angelo Ogbonna suffered an ACL injury against Liverpool at the start of last month.

West Ham have strongly been linked with a move to sign Tarkowski as a replacement for Ogbonna.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

The Burnley ace is out of contract at Turf Moor in the summer and the Hammers are allegedly prepared to pay around £7 million in order to sign him in January (The Sun).

It appears as though Tarkowski won’t be swapping Lancashire for East London, however…at least for the time being.

West Ham will struggle to sign Tarkowski in January

The Northern Echo reckon that Burnley are not prepared to sell the 29-year-old to West Ham next month.

That’s even if it means losing him for nothing in the summer.

Tarkowski, who earns £50k-a-week at Turf Moor (Spotrac), is a top-class Premier League defender.

Let’s have it right though, there is no way we should be spending more than £7 million on a 29-year-old with just six months remaining on his deal.

We should either be looking for better value in the market or just wait until the summer when we can sign him for nothing!

David Moyes’s priority should be to bring a centre-forward and cover for Said Benrahma and Aaron Cresswell to the London Stadium in January.

Missing out on Tarkowski in January might seem like somewhat of a blow for Moyes and West Ham.

In reality though, we will be able to save £7 million and sign him in the summer. Besides, we have plenty of cover for Ogbonna with Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and youngsters Aji Alese and Jamal Baptiste all options for Moyes to use.
