Report makes exciting West Ham Patrik Schick claim ahead of the January transfer window

West Ham are keen to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick in the January transfer window according to a report from 90Min.

The Hammers have allegedly scouted the Czech Republic international on several occasions.

David Moyes desperately needs to sign a top-class striker in January, Michail Antonio is currently the only recognised senior striker at the London Stadium.

And that clearly isn’t acceptable for a club with aspirations of achieving success both domestically and on the continent.

Antonio has been great for West Ham but he is crying out for more quality competition and cover. And it seems as though Moyes may well have identified the man for the job.

West Ham eyeing Patrik Schick

Bayer Leverkusen hitman Patrik Schick is firmly on the Hammers’ radar according to 90Min. The East London outfit have allegedly extensively scouted the 6ft 3in striker.

What an incredible signing Schick would be for West Ham.

The 25-year-old has been on fire for Leverkusen this season with 16 goals in 14 Bundesliga games to his name (Transfermarkt).

He is currently behind only Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts.

The Czech ace is absolutely perfect for the Hammers. He’s tall, strong, physical and is a hard worker. The fact that three of his fellow Czech Republic internationals are already at West Ham (Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Alex Kral) should work in our favour as well.

Schick could be available for around £40 million in January (The Mirror). That’s an awful lot of money but the West Ham owners will have to pay it if they genuinely want to compete with the very best.

The one big problem we see with this one is the fact that Leverkusen surely won’t want to sell their best player midway through the season.

They are currently in fourth spot in the Bundesliga and have a real battle on their hands if they are to finish inside the Champions League spots.

West Ham might just have to wait until the summer.

If there is even a 1% chance of signing Schick in January though, the powers that be at the Hammers must do everything they can to make it happen.
