Tomas Soucek was in fine form for West Ham vs Watford at Vicarage Road this afternoon after a few weeks of under-par displays.

The 26-year-old has been really poor over the past couple of months.

It must be said that his role has changed, however. He has been the sitting midfielder, giving Declan Rice license to roam forward.

David Moyes will surely revert to the original setup when Rice returns after today’s game, however.

Soucek covered every inch of grass as per usual against Watford.

The Czech Republic international scored a brilliantly taken goal and he looked just like his old self once again. We need big Tomas to be firing on all cylinders between now and the end of the season.

And the only way to give him the best chance of doing that is to play him in the correct position. Please take note Moyesie!

West Ham ace back to his best vs Watford

Not only did Soucek score a priceless goal for the Hammers but his all-round performance was brilliant as well.

And the stats prove that.

Soucek had 72 touches, made six tackles, two interceptions and four clearances. He won six aerial duels and registered a 75.5% completion rate from 53 attempted passes (Who Scored).

It was great to see Soucek back to his best. He is a completely different player when given license to roam forward and arrive late into the penalty box.

Let’s hope that today is a building block for the 26-year-old and West Ham for the second-half of the season.
