Report makes Emmanuel Longelo claim as Rangers circle West Ham starlet

Rangers are allegedly interested in bringing talented young left-back Emmanuel Longelo to Ibrox from West Ham United this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that the 21-year-old is a summer transfer target for Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Hammers manager David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his left-back ranks at the London Stadium before the start of next season.

So unless the Scot doesn’t rate Longelo at all, selling him to Rangers would be a rather strange decision, that’s for sure.

The 21-year-old Barking-born ace is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2023 and West Ham have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months. But could he be Ibrox bound?

Rangers want to sign Emmanuel Longelo

The Sun reckon that Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is keen to bring the 21-year-old Hammers left-back to Ibrox this summer.

Bournemouth, Millwall and Hibernian are keen allegedly keen to sign Longelo as well.

It is claimed that David Moyes doesn’t feel as though the youngster is at the level required to play Premier League football and as such, he will be allowed to leave the London Stadium.

And Rangers making a move to sign him will depend upon whether or not they move Calvin Bassey on this summer (The Sun).

Quite how much money West Ham will demand for Longelo remains to be seen. We have to say though, selling him may well be a big mistake.

The 21-year-old was absolutely brilliant for the Hammers under-23s last season. He was one of the standout performers in fact.

The West Ham youngster bagged one goal and five assists in 18 Premier League 2 games for the U-23s (Transfermarkt) – not bad numbers for a left-back!

Longelo is incredibly dynamic, is absolutely rapid and is a very solid defender. He’s pretty good going forward as well.

The 21-year-old showcased his talent for the senior side during our Europa League clash with Dinamo Zagreb back in December and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

It seems as though Rangers signing Emmanuel Longelo this summer is a very real prospect, however. And if that happens, it may well come back to bite David Moyes.
