West Ham United have allegedly made an enquiry for talented young Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert.
That’s according to a report from L’Equipe who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Leicester City for the 20-year-old’s signature in the summer transfer window.
West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to strengthen his left-back department at the London Stadium before the start of next season.
Aaron Cresswell has been a fine servant for the Hammers over the past eight years. There have definitely been signs that he is regressing over the last 12 months, however.
The East London club need a more energetic, powerful and pacy left sided full-back if we are to make the jump up to the next level. And it seems as though Moyes has his eye on someone in particular…
West Ham make Adrien Truffert enquiry
According to L’Equipe, the Hammers and Leicester have both made official enquiries for the 20-year-old left-back.
We believe that the Rennes starlet would be a very effective addition for West Ham United this summer.
In 30 Ligue 1 games for Rennes last season, Truffert bagged three goals and two assists (Who Scored).
During those outings, the France under-21 international averaged one tackle, 0.6 interceptions and 0.8 clearances per match. He made 31.5 passes per game and recorded a completion rate of 82.5% (Who Scored).
Ligue 1’s official website describe Truffert as a player with ‘huge potential’.
The 20-year-old has plenty of pace and is just as effective in the final third as he is defensively.
Considering his tender years, he goes about his business with a real sense of maturity and that his a very good sign indeed.
West Ham signing Adrien Truffert this summer would be a very smart move.
Quite how much Rennes will demand for his signature however, remains to be seen. And it is worth noting that the Hammers’ negotiations with the French club pertaining to Nayef Aguerd may impact our ability to sign Truffert.
The 26-year-old is thought to be West Ham bound in a €35 million (£30 million) deal (The Guardian) but talks between the two clubs have been seriously dragging over the past week or so. Let’s just hope that those negotiations don’t have any adverse effect on our ability to sign his teammate Truffert.
