Ben Johnson now wants to leave West Ham United after a lack of first-team opportunities last season.

According to a report from The Athletic, Ben Johnson is demanding more regular action at the London Stadium or a move away from West Ham.

A bizarre recent reported suggested that the 23-year-old is a transfer target for Arsenal.

Report makes Ben Johnson claim as West Ham eye big summer reshuffle

The Athletic claim that the 23-year-old full-back could look for a new club this summer unless he is guaranteed more regular action at the London Stadium.

He is out of contract with West Ham in just 12 month’s time, so it really wouldn’t surprise me to see Johnson leave this summer.

It’s a shame really because he looked like a real player when he burst onto the scene four years ago.

The right-back made 17 Premier League appearances for the Hammers last term, with nine of those being starts.

Ben Johnson proved last season with some awful performances for West Ham that he is nowhere near good enough to be playing in the Premier League.

As harsh as that might sound, there is no room for sentiment at elite level football – it really is as simple as that.

I won’t lose any sleep if Johnson leaves the club this summer, that’s for sure.
