The addition of a new defensive midfielder will be key for Hammers boss David Moyes this summer, with Declan Rice set to leave the London Stadium.

And it seems as though Guendouzi is someone who is definitely on the Scot’s radar…

La Provence reckon that the Hammers could sign the 24-year-old Marseille midfielder in the summer transfer window.

I must admit, I actually think he could be a really good signing for West Ham.

Meanwhile, The Metro have labelled him as a ‘superb’ player, and on his day, he is real player.

Guendouzi is a really tenacious tackler, plays with great spirit and determination and possesses energy, athleticism and stamina in abundance.

Foot Mercato recently claimed that Marseille want around €30 million (£26 million) for the 24-year-old former Arsenal midfielder.

That sounds like great value to me. And if West Ham sign Matteo Guendouzi this summer, I feel like he could be a superb addition for us.

However, it must be said that if the Frenchman is the only central midfielder signing Moyes makes when Declan Rice leaves, it will be fairly underwhelming.
