It is suggested that Hammers boss David Moyes is actually leading the race to sign the 20-year-old forward this summer.

Signing a striker will be one of the key priorities for Moyes, with Gianluca Scamacca being heavily linked with a move back to Italy.
And Leonardo is someone who has been on West Ham’s radar before – just last month in fact.
Now it seems like the Hammers are ready to ramp up their interest in bringing the young Brazilian to the London Stadium…
Report links West Ham with incredibly exciting move to sign ‘New Neymar’ Marcos Leonardo
OK Fichajes reckon that the Hammers are leading the chase to sign the 20-year-old Santos ace for around £13 million this summer.
Leonardo has already bagged 42 goals and 10 assists in 142 senior games for Santos (Transfermarkt) – an incredible tally given his age.
He stands at only 5ft 7in tall and isn’t the quickest but does possesses exceptional movement, real football intelligence and unreal finishing ability – hence the comparisons to Manchester City legend Aguero (Total Football Analysis).

He has also been labelled as the ‘New Neymar’ by the likes of the Mirror. They’re not a bad couple of players to be compared with are they!
Funnily enough, the Hammers missed out on signing Neymar from Santos for just £16 million back in 2010 (Daily Mail). Maybe we will make up for that this time around.
The South American whizz-kid us a centre-forward but he can play just in behind the main striker if need be as well.
If West Ham manage to sign Marcos Leonardo this summer, it will be a transfer that should get every single fan of the club excited.
However, it still remains to be seen whether the Hammers are able to beat the likes of PSG, Juventus and Roma to his signature.
