Hammers star Declan Rice is reportedly open to joining Chelsea from West Ham United in the summer of 2023.

According to The Athletic, Dec is ready to move back to Chelsea in the summer on the condition that they qualify for the Champions League this season.

Mark Noble has already admitted that West Ham will be powerless from stopping Rice leaving the London Stadium, if his valuation is met.

The Hammers allegedly want as little as £100 million for the 23-year-old England international (Daily Mail) or as much as £150 million (The Athletic).

And if Chelsea offer that kind of cash in the summer of 2023, it may well be impossible for David Moyes to keep him at the club…

Declan Rice open to joining Chelsea

The Athletic reckon that Dec is refusing to sign a new deal with West Ham and as a result, he will leave the club in the summer of 2023.

The 23-year-old likes the idea of joining Chelsea, but only if they qualify for the Champions League this season.

Losing the midfielder to the Blues would be a bitter bill to swallow for the Hammers, but it is something that we will all have to come to terms with one day, probably at some point in the near future.

talkSPORT have described Rice as a ‘sensational’ player, and they’re not wrong.

The tricky thing for the Hammers here is that Rice will be out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer of 2025.

So if we are to get maximum value for him, Moyes will need to sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Don’t get me wrong…I think Moyes should be going all out to keep Rice at the London Stadium. The thing is, it will reach a point whereby it is fiscally irresponsible to keep hold of him.

With Declan Rice reportedly open to joining Chelsea, I feel like this transfer is will be a case of when rather than if.

It’s just such a shame that we have been unable to match Dec’s ambitions.
