Mark Noble has just delivered an interesting 37-word verdict on the future of Declan Rice at West Ham United.

The 23-year-old Hammers midfielder took over as club captain at the London Stadium when Noble returned at the end of last season.

Rice has firmly established himself as one of the very best players in the Premier League in his specific position.

David Moyes has a real battle on his hands though, if he is to keep Dec at West Ham.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to some of the world’s biggest clubs in the summer of 2023, including the likes of Chelsea.

Losing Rice will obviously be a massive blow for the Hammers, but it is something that we will all have to come to terms with one day, probably at some point in the near future.

And it seems as though if one of the clubs chasing Rice cough up the money, there will be nothing that Moyes can do to keep him at the club…

Mark Noble delivers Declan Rice verdict

The 35-year-old is set to take up his new role as Sporting Director at West Ham in the new year. One of the first items on his agenda will be the future of Declan Rice.

The Hammers fans will be hoping that the ex-captain’s relationship with the current skipper will be crucial to our hopes of keeping the midfielder in East London.

When speaking to The Guardian, Noble responded when asked about West Ham’s chances of keeping Rice at the London Stadium:

If a top club wants Declan Rice they’re just going to pay for him, full stop. You’ve seen it with Jack Grealish, with the best players. If the top boys want them, we ain’t got a chance.

The tricky thing for the Hammers here is that Rice will be out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer of 2025.

So if we are to get maximum value for him, Moyes will need to sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Don’t get me wrong…I think Moyes and Noble should be going all out to keep Rice at the London Stadium. The thing is, it will reach a point whereby it is fiscally irresponsible to keep hold of him.

Mark Noble has admitted that should any club meet West Ham’s valuation of Declan Rice, then he will be sold. And the sooner that we all come to terms with that, the better in my opinion.
