Report claims West Ham could sign £200k-a-week Chelsea man Ross Barkley for absolutely nothing

West Ham United could now sign Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley for absolutely nothing before transfer deadline day.

That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that Chelsea are so keen to move the 28-year-old on that Todd Boehly may make an offer to release him early from his £200k-a-week deal at Stamford Bridge.

Hammers boss David Moyes is allegedly keen to bring Barkley to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes.

The West Ham manager may not be interested in the ex-Everton midfielder anymore though, with a deal to bring Lucas Paqueta to East London nearing completion, according to club insiders.

Having said that, it seems as though the Chelsea man may well now be available for an absolute bargain…

Chelsea prepared to let Ross Barkley leave for free

The Sun claim that Blues owner Todd Boehly is ready to offer the 28-year-old a pay-off to terminate his contract early.

That would enable him to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer this summer.

In spite of that, we still believe that West Ham should avoid a move to sign Ross Barkley at all costs.

Signing the 33-capped England international would kind of feel like a backwards step for the Hammers.

He’s far too injury prone for what Moyes is trying to build at the London Stadium. He’ll be 29 later this year as well.

He made just six Premier League appearances for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel last season, with only one of those a start (Transfermarkt).

This is one that we need to steer well clear of…even if he is indeed available on a free transfer.

If David Moyes is interested in signing Barkley, someone needs to get in his ear, and fast.

Since the start of the 2017/18 campaign, Barkley has missed 322 days of action and 64 games through injury (Transfermarkt).

During that period of time, the 28-year-old has bagged only 14 goals and 12 assists in 125 games. He has won the Europa League with Chelsea but his time so far in West London has to go down as a failure.

Hopefully West Ham don’t go anywhere near Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley this summer.
