One time West Ham player Kai Corbett has been handed a chance at Southampton with the south coast outfit having taken him on trial according to a report from The Daily Echo.
He will now be given a chance to prove himself to Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl at St Mary’s.
The 19-year-old winger left the Hammers in the summer after rejecting a two-year professional deal with the East London outfit.
He impressed during his spell at the London Stadium although he never got a chance at senior level under David Moyes.
Corbett bagged 10 goals and six assists in 33 games for West Ham United’s under-18s and four goals and one assist in 22 games for the under-23s (Transfermarkt).
Player who left West Ham in the summer handed chance at Southampton
Kai Corbett has linked up on trial with the Saints according to a report from The Daily Echo.
It will be interesting to see how the talented teenager gets on at Southampton.
He certainly has the ability but whether his work ethic is enough for him to succeed at the very highest level remains to be seen.
If he does become a success with the Saints it will very much be a case of the one that got away.
We have got plenty right over the past few years, however.
So we can’t be too critical of the West Ham owners and management in this respect. We did offer Corbett a new deal after all, he just chose to reject it.
Whatever happens, we wish Kai Corbett the best of luck in his future endeavours.
