The path is clearing as Florian Plettenberg delivers a big update on West Ham striker target Serhou Guirassy.
West Ham are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window as long as they can offload players first.
West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten was widely regarded to have overseen one of the best windows in the Premier League.
But the Hammers did not sign a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca and that now looks like a mistake.
West Ham are looking to address that issue next month by – according to a host of persistent reports – signing 17-goal Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

We’ve been reporting recently on claims from multiple sources about West Ham preparing a move for the red hot forward.
There was encouragement that the Guinea ace is the man West Ham are eyeing next month when Hammers News spoke to a top source inside the club who confirmed certain African players are high on the club’s list of targets.
Then last week German outlet BILD claimed the Hammers have a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Guirassy this winter, and would have to pay just €17.5 million (£15 million) to make it happen.
West Ham’s problem is that Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Man United and Newcastle were also said to be interested in the 27-year-old.
But the path is clearing as Florian Plettenberg delivers a big update on West Ham striker target Guirassy.
According to the Sky Sports Germany reporter, Dortmund are out of the running as the striker does not see them as an option.

There was further good news for West Ham too as Plettenberg revealed Guirassy wants to join a club where he is the first choice striker.
And that simply would not necessarily be the case at the likes of Man United, Newcastle or Milan whereas it would at West Ham. He Guirassy is also unwilling to let Stuttgart buy out his low release clause to they can sell him for a higher price.
“Borussia Dortmund is not a serious option for Serhou Guirassy in winter,” Plettenberg said on X.
“There are also no talks or negotiations (with them).
“If he leaves Stuttgart in the winter, he wants to be established as a striker. Newcastle and Man United are seriously interested in the 27-year-old striker. As always reported: He is not willing to sell his release clause for winter (less than €20m (£17.2m). No option for him.”
Two further things in West Ham’s favour is that Steidten is well connected in Germany.
And West Ham already have lines of communication with Stuttgart after paying them around £17m for Konstantinos Mavropanos in the summer.
