There will be only one winner as Manchester United are allegedly told to pay €75 million (£65m) for West Ham United target Cody Gakpo.

That’s according to a report from Foot Mercato who claim that Manchester United are the leading challengers for Gakpo’s signature, ahead of the January transfer window.

West Ham manager David Moyes allegedly wants to bring Gakpo to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

However, the Scot will now have his work cut-out if he is to do just that.

Manchester United are said to be in talks to sign Gakpo at the moment.

And now Man United boss Erik ten Hag has been told exactly how much it will cost for him to bring the 23-year-old Holland international to Old Trafford in the January transfer window…

Foot Mercato reckon that the Red Devils will have to fork out £65 million to bring the talented Dutchman to the Premier League from the Eredivisie this winter.

That sounds like an awful lot of cash but I really think that the PSV Eindhoven star will be totally worth it.

If Manchester United do make a firm approach for Gakpo, the Hammers will have no chance of signing him. His £65 million price-tag is obviously a huge obstacle for us as well.

And that would be a huge blow for us.

What an incredible player the 23-year-old is. He has scored three superb goals for the Netherlands out in Qatar at the 2022 World Cup.

We would have absolutely loved to see Gakpo at West Ham. He’s a terrific young talent with a really high ceiling but it will now be back to the drawing board for Moyes.

Gakpo has been described as a ‘sensational’ player by well-renowned Twitter account Dutch Football.

He has also been labelled as ‘superb’ by football journalist Josh Bunting. Meanwhile, One Football have called him a ‘world-class winger’.

He bagged a brilliant 21 goals and 14 assists in 47 games in all competitions for PSV last season (Transfermarkt).

This season, he has racked up an amazing 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games (Transfermarkt).

The young forward really has been a star for Holland at the World Cup out in Qatar this winter.

Manchester United are the clear front-runners to sign Cody Gakpo in January. And if Ten Hag brings him to Old Trafford, it will very much be Man United’s gain and West Ham’s loss.
