Manchester United are reportedly set to open talks to sign West Ham United target Cody Gakpo after the World Cup finishes.
That’s according to Dutch football journalist Marco Timmer who has discussed the 23-year-old’s future amidst strong links with Manchester United.
However, with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag keen to bring the Holland international to Old Trafford, Moyes may well be fighting a losing battle.

If Man United go all all out for the PSV Eindhoven star in the January transfer window, I can’t see a way in which we can compete with them…
Manchester United set for Cody Gakpo talks
Marco Timmer has claimed that Man United will open talks to sign the Dutchman after the World Cup finishes later next month, as quoted via Sport Witness:
The focus for now is still entirely on the World Cup. This will be followed by talks between the PSV striker’s management and top clubs of the calibre of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
If Manchester United do make a firm approach for Gakpo, the Hammers will have no chance of signing him.
And that would be a huge blow for us.
What an incredible player the 23-year-old is. He scored a superb goal for the Netherlands yesterday in the World Cup against Ecuador.
He could be available for around £34 million in January or next summer (The Telegraph).

We would have absolutely loved to see Gakpo at West Ham. He’s a terrific young talent with a really high ceiling but it will now be back to the drawing board for Moyes.
Gakpo has been described as a ‘sensational’ player by well-renowned Twitter account Dutch Football.
He has also been labelled as ‘superb’ by football journalist Josh Bunting. Meanwhile, One Football have called him a ‘world-class winger’.
He bagged a brilliant 21 goals and 14 assists in 47 games in all competitions for PSV last season (Transfermarkt).
This season, he has racked up an amazing 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 games (Transfermarkt).
The sky really is the limit for the young Dutchman. What a player he would be for the Hammers. However, with Manchester United reportedly set to hold Cody Gakpo talks, it seems as though West Ham had better start looking elsewhere.
