West Ham United are still eyeing up a move to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz this summer.

That’s according to journalist Dean Jones who told GiveMeSport that the Hammers view the 23-year-old as a good value for money signing.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg recently claimed that West Ham manager David Moyes could follow up the signing of Maxwel Cornet by bringing Brereton Diaz to the London Stadium.

Moyes has already signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo this summer but it could be argued that the Scot needs to get the addition of another proven forward over the line before the summer window slams shut.

Michail Antonio and Scamacca need more competition and cover.

And it seems as though the Hammers boss has someone in particular in mind…

West Ham still keen to sign Ben Brereton Diaz

It seems as though the Chile international is still firmly on the Hammers’ radar this summer.

Dean Jones told that GiveMeSport how West Ham are not ruling out a move to sign Brereton Diaz:

“I think Brereton Diaz is the one to probably look out for. They still feel that he’s offering some value. I know that there’s interest abroad, though, for him, and he’s interested in Sevilla. So, Brereton Diaz has got decisions to make himself at the moment, but West Ham are not totally ruling that idea out.”

We believe that the 23-year-old Blackburn forward would be a decent addition for the Hammers this summer.

Brereton Diaz has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.

The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.

And he has begun this campaign with one goal in two games.

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.

Blackburn could sell the 23-year-old for around £15 million this summer (The Sun’s Alan Nixon).

And in my view, West Ham would be getting a decent deal if we sign Ben Brereton Diaz for that kind of money this summer.
