West Ham United allegedly could try to sign Ben Brereton Diaz after completing a deal for Maxwel Cornet today.
That’s according to a report from Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg who claims that Hammers boss David Moyes has his eye on the 23-year-old Blackburn striker.

Moyes is clearly still keen to bolster his centre-forward ranks, having already signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.

The Hammers have been persistently linked with a move to sign the Rovers hitman since January. And it seems as though we could be ready to make an official move for him soon…
West Ham eye Brereton Diaz swoop
Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg reckons that Moyes is tracking the Chile international and could make a swoop to sign him once the deal for Maxwel Cornet goes through.
We like the idea of Moyes signing Brereton Diaz as a back up for Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio. We just think that £20 million is slightly excessive.
The 23-year-old has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.
The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.
Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:
“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”
After struggling during the early years of his career, it seems as though he has received a real confidence boost from being included in the Chile squad.
Ben Brereton Diaz wouldn’t be a bad addition for West Ham at all.
We just hope that the Hammers don’t pay anywhere near £20 million for him, especially with just one year remaining on his current contract at Ewood Park.
