The Hammers and Spurs need to bolster their respective central midfield ranks in the summer transfer window.
David Moyes and Antonio Conte are thought to be very keen on bringing James Ward-Prowse to London from Southampton before the start of next season.

Fabrizio Romano drops James Ward-Prowse update
The well renowned football journalist was speaking on YouTube with Chris Cowlin and responded when asked about the 27-year-old Southampton midfielder’s future:
“No update on him (joining Spurs). West Ham are tracking him though.”
Ward-Prowse would be a brilliant signing for any club in the Premier League and especially for either West Ham or Tottenham.
The 10-capped England international is a sensational footballer and has been dubbed as the best set-piece taker in world football by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Ward-Prowse enjoyed his best season ever for Southampton last term, bagging 11 goals and eight assists in 42 games (Transfermarkt).

The central midfielder possesses exceptional technique, is a magnificent passer of the football and has a very impressive engine.
The 27-year-old is truly incredible from dead-ball situations as well. His free-kick and corner taking technique has been described as ‘unreal’ (Give Me Sport).
Considering how much emphasis David Moyes places on set-pieces, it’s easy to see why signing Ward-Prowse would be very high up on the Scot’s priority list.
A move to the Hammers or Spurs would surely appeal to the Saints ace this summer.
Whether West Ham or Tottenham will be prepared to pay anywhere near the £75 million that Southampton are demanding for James Ward-Prowse is highly doubtful, however.
