Nayef Aguerd is in London and ready to finalise West Ham move claims top Sky Sports reporter

Defender Nayef Aguerd is in London and ready to finalise his West Ham move claims a top Sky Sports reporter.

The breaking and concerning news at West Ham yesterday centred around Newcastle trying to hijack yet another Hammers transfer.

Newcastle reportedly made an 11th hour bid to hijack West Ham’s £30m West Ham deal with Rennes for Moroccan defender Aguerd.

A high level West Ham insider has confirmed the last ditch Newcastle move to website Claret and Hugh.

West Ham are already busy trying to fight off Newcastle in order to get on loan goalkeeper Alphonse Areola signed up to a permanent deal.

The Hammers and Newcastle have also reportedly been locked in transfer battles over Jesse Lingard, Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike in recent months.

And yesterday we heard the Magpies were yet again trying to scupper West Ham’s transfer plans with a move for Aguerd.

Worse still speculation then abound that Newcastle’s interest had seen Aguerd have second thoughts over a move to West Ham despite fans being led to believe – for some time – that his medical and unveiling were imminent.

There was a glimmer of hope for West Ham and bad news for Newcastle from The Guardian overnight.

Journalist Jacob Steinberg – who has strong links at West Ham – claimed the Hammers were still confident of sealing a deal for Aguerd.

And there is further good news West Ham fans this evening it seems.

Because Aguerd is in London and ready to finalise his West Ham move claims top Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

“Aguerd has arrived in London,” Sheth sad on Twitter.

“Second part of West Ham medical in next 24 hours ahead of finalising move.”

If true then West Ham fans will be delighted.

Whether Newcastle were truly ever in the race for Aguerd we don’t know.

But if they were – and West Ham have genuinely seen off competition from Eddie Howe’s newly-minted side – then it adds the cherry on the cake of a positive start to the summer transfer window.
