Mikey Moore to West Ham? Tottenham source explains ‘truth’ as Mateus Fernandes exit nears

Mateus Fernandes is edging closer to leaving West Ham United for Tottenham Hotspur but, as some have suggested, could Mikey Moore be moving in the other direction?

In a major twist, Spurs have overtaken Manchester United in the race to sign the Portugal international in the last 48 hours or so.

It is no secret that Old Trafford was Fernandes’ dream destination. However, Manchester United are yet to make a bid with West Ham United holding firm on their £85 million valuation.

How much do YOU think Fernandes will be sold for in the end?

It now appears that Tottenham are willing to journey into realms the Red Devils are not; reportedly offering a much greater financial package to both Mateus Fernandes and his current employers.

Speculation suggesting that Mikey Moore could join the Hammers on loan as part of the arrangement has been swirling on social media.

But according to a Spurs source who has been right at the forefront of the latest developments surrounding Fernandes, the England Under-19 international will not be wearing claret and blue next season.

Mikey Moore to West Ham reports dismissed at Tottenham

There is ‘no truth’ to the Mikey Moore rumours, Szyexcl writes on their X account while claiming that ‘Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with West Ham for Mateus Fernandes’.

Still only 18, Moore made huge strides during a loan spell at Rangers last season. The twinkle-toed teenager scored seven goals in 47 matches while claiming the Scottish Premiership’s Young Player of the Year award.

Moore made the majority of his appearances at Rangers on the left, though he can also play on the right.

While West Ham are increasingly ‘confident’ that Jarrod Bowen will stay at the London Stadium, the departure of Adama Traore and the likely exit of Crysencio Summerville means the winger market is one that the club may dip their toes into sooner rather than later.

Leicester City talisman Abdul Fatawu is a target, according to ExWhuEmployee. Brighton’s Amario Cozier-Duberry has been linked by The Athletic this week. Interestingly, both have earned comparisons with Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka.

Fernandes, meanwhile, is set to become the second-biggest signing in West Ham’s history.

Tottenham Hotspur close to signing £85m Mateus Fernandes

A potential up-front fee of £85 million will see the former Southampton and Sporting Lisbon playmaker move into second place behind Declan Rice, while earning the club a cool £30 million more than Spurs paid for Mohammed Kudus eleven months ago.

Interestingly, Man United and Spurs could go into battle again once Fernandes’ fate is sealed.

West Ham hope to bring in around £130 million via the sales of both Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, and the winger has admirers in North London and the North West.

Ding ding, everybody prepare to take your seats for round two.
