Michail Antonio had the Sky Sports studio in fits on his debut with a response he gave to Kalvin Phillips joining West Ham from Man City.

Hammers striker Michail Antonio has always made it clear he wanted to get into punditry and TV work.

With the sun setting on the soon-to-be 34-year-old’s West Ham career, he reached another goal by appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports’ coverage of the Carabao cup semi-final between Fulham and Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Antonio was alongside former Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge and ex Premier League midfielder Steve Sidwell with Mark Chapman hosting.

Antonio has Sky Sports studio in fits over Phillips

Speaking to Callum Wilson on The Footballer’s Football podcast earlier in the day, Antonio claimed he knew nothing about West Ham being on the verge of signing Kalvin Phillips from Man City.

Wilson did not believe the Hammers striker, who backed the move to bring the England man to east London.

Antonio then had the Sky Sports studio in fits with his response to Phillips joining West Ham from Manchester City.

Before signing off the coverage, Chapman tried to get Antonio to open up about West Ham being on the verge of signing Phillips.

Hammer’s knowing grin over Man City man

And his response had the panel cracking up as he remained tight-lipped with a knowing grin, saying: “Well that’s the first I’m hearing of that!”

You can see the exchange in the video post below.

Antonio is right to play West Ham’s cards close to his chest.

Until Phillips is signed, sealed and delivered that is always the best policy.

Let’s hope Antonio has a few more magic moments with the Hammers alongside the imminent arrival from Man City before he rides off into the TV punditry sunset.

Phillips is expected to have his medical and sign for West Ham on Thursday.
