A reporter close to the owner has shared the only way Kalvin Phillips joins West Ham permanently from Man City this summer.

West Ham are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Kalvin Phillips from Man City.

Yesterday LondonWorld reported that sources had exclusively told them a medical has been booked after terms were agreed between Manchester City and West Ham.

The £55m Manchester City flop will sign for the Hammers on loan for the rest of the season.

After much confusion yesterday, it has been confirmed that West Ham will indeed have an option to make the move permanent come the summer.

Reporter shares only way Phillips joins permanently

And now a reporter close to the owner has shared the only way Phillips joins West Ham permanently from Man City.

Sean Whetstone counts West Ham majority owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady among his contacts inside the club.

Now he has claimed the only way West Ham will make Phillips’ move permanent is if he agrees to take a pay cut on his Man City salary.

Otherwise it would allegedly break West Ham’s current pay structure, something the Hammers hierarchy are unwilling to do, according to Whetstone.

‘That position could change’

“Lots of confusion around the Kalvin Phillips loan transfer on whether there is an option to buy or not,” Whetstone said.

“It now appears there is an option to buy with the deal on the table which has yet to be signed but West Ham are unlikely to activate that option this summer on his current wages as it would break our current wage structure.

“Should he lower his wage demands in the future that position could change.”

At the weekend Hammers News brought word from a source involved in the West Ham side of negotiations who revealed Phillips’ soft spot for David Moyes had given the Hammers the edge over rival suitors.

Some Hammers fans have questioned whether they need Phillips.

But Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes Phillips and West Ham could be the perfect match.

And this is how we see the 28-year-old fitting into a new-look West Ham side in the second half of the campaign.
