West Ham are ‘in talks’ for brilliant young star Bradley Locko as the club’s Aaron Cresswell successor claims a new report.
With the signing of Kalvin Phillips imminent and moves reportedly afoot for attacking targets, it seems West Ham’s activity in the January transfer window has suddenly burst into life.
Now the Hammers appear to be addressing a major issue in the team, finding the long-term replacement for Aaron Cresswell.
The longserving left-back looked set to leave in the summer when he pushed for a move to Wolves.
Cresswell has been an excellent servant for West Ham. And one of the club’s best pieces of business of modern times at a paltry £3.5m from Ipswich.

Major issue finally addressed?
But all good things come to an end. And Cresswell has – understandably at 34 – looked increasingly out of his depth at the top level. While Emerson Palmieri is clearly West Ham’s number one in the left-back position, the Hammers have little to no quality depth beyond him.
Not for much longer, though, if the club gets its way in ‘negotiations’ with Ligue 1 high-flyers Brest.
Because West Ham are ‘in talks’ for brilliant young star Bradley Locko as the Cresswell successor claims a new report.
According to Foot Mercato, West Ham are in talks with Stade Brestois over the signing of France Under 21 international Locko.
The 21-year-old has played in every Ligue 1 game for Brest this season as they sit third in the table.
The alleged Hammers target has formed part of the fourth-best defence in Ligue 1. But it is his pace and power as an attacking outlet which makes him an ideal modern full-back. Locko has just one assist this season but that does not tell the full story given his contribution to the team’s attacking play.

West Ham window suddenly going Locko
According to the report West Ham are looking to sign Locko now with a view to him remaining at Brest on loan before linking up with David Moyes’ side in the summer.
“West Ham have opened discussions to sign the defender,” the report states.
“The deal being discussed is for a permanent transfer, however, Locko would potentially remain with Les Pirates on loan until the end of the season, before joining up with his new teammates at the London Stadium in the summer.”
Locko fits Tim Steidten’s recruitment philosophy to a tee. The Hammers have been crying out for a pacy, modern full-back for years.
So the fact the club is finally getting around to addressing the issue will excite fans.
And it will give West Ham the perfect player to share the load with Emerson, from whom he can learn so much.
