West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing talented Santos forward Marcos Leonardo this winter.

According to 90 Min, the 20-year-old Brazilian hitman is firmly on the West Ham radar ahead of the January transfer window.

And if the Santos hitman does join the Hammers, it will almost certainly spell the end for Danny Ings at the London Stadium.

David Moyes brought the 31-year-old to the London Stadium for £12 million in January (Evening Standard), and he’s currently our third highest paid player behind Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta on a whopping £125k-a-week (Capology).

Unfortunately for Ings though, and the Hammers of course, there is a genuine argument to be made that he’s turned out to be one of our worst signings of all-time.

The 31-year-old has proven to be painfully ill-suited to Moyes’s system – something that the Scot undoubtedly should have foreseen before he signed him.

That’s irrelevant now though, and it seems like Ings’ time in East London could be coming to an end…

The Brazilian youngster would be a massive upgrade on Danny Ings.

The highly talented 20-year-old has bagged a really impressive return of 21 goals and four assists in 42 games for Santos so far this season (Transfermarkt).

And with the Brazilian campaign set to end in December, West Ham may well have a really good chance to sign him in January.

He has been described as a ‘diamond in the rough’ with exceptional ‘poaching instincts’ and great movement by Breaking the Lines.

The sky is the limit for the Brazil under-20 international, and he has so much more pace and power about him than Ings has ever had.

If West Ham do manage to sign Marcos Leonardo in January, the 31-year-old Hammers hitman will surely be packing his bags.
