Man United boss Erik ten Hag has all but ruled out a West Ham deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with a clarification on the defender’s situation.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Manchester United outcast Wan-Bissaka since the summer.

Man United signed the fullback from Crystal Palace for £50m in the summer of 2019 (BBC Sport).

West Ham boss Moyes actually tried to sign Wan-Bissaka from Man United in the summer transfer window.

And recent reports have suggested he will try again for Wan-Bissaka in January albeit with competition from Wolves.

Reporting for the Manchester Evening News, chief Man United writer Samuel Luckhurst confirmed West Ham’s interest in bringing the former Crystal Palace star back to London.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed a deal between West Ham and Man United for the right-back could be on the cards.

Any doubts that West Ham desperately need a new right-back were eradicated by Vladimir Coufal’s hapless performance in the defeat to Arsenal on Boxing Day evening.

Coufal and Ben Johnson have both proved nowhere near the required standard for a modern full-back.

Meanwhile speculation has abound that Ten Hag is looking to sign a new right-back in January to compete with Diogo Dalot, suggesting Wan-Bissaka is set to depart.

But Hammers hopes look to have been hit.

Because Man United boss Erik ten Hag has all but ruled out a West Ham deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with a clarification on the defender’s situation.

Speaking to BBC reporter Simon Stone, Ten Hag has explained that Wan-Bissaka is wanted at Old Trafford.

“First you have to be on the pitch and in the first half of season he was either injured or ill so you don’t have a role in squad,” Ten Hag said about Wan-Bissaka (Simon Stone).

“The (World Cup) break was good for him.

“Now he has played two games and is doing really well. We needed the competition in the squad.”

It now looks highly unlikely Man United will let the Moyes target leave. It is a massive shame because the Hammers need him.

Wan-Bissaka is regarded one of the best one v one defenders in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has been criticised for a lack of ability going forward during his time at Man United.

However, during his time at Crystal Palace, Wan-Bissaka showed he has got that in his game. And West Ham would have hoped they could help him rediscover his confidence and best form.
