Dharmesh Sheth’s major Man United transfer update carries huge news for West Ham ahead of the January window.

The winter window is almost upon us and both West Ham and Manchester United are already being linked with a host of transfer activity.

One result of West Ham’s rapid rise under ex Red Devils boss David Moyes in recent years is that they are now regularly competing in the market for the same players as the likes of Man United.

Given West Ham’s performances so far this season and the club’s precarious position in the table, Moyes needs to be active when the January window opens.

With Cristiano Ronaldo having now left Man United – and given the lofty expectations at Old Trafford – Erik ten Hag has admitted he too could be busy.

The January window is nearly upon us and both Moyes and Ten Hag have been linked with a host of players.

Both Man United and West Ham have been heavily linked with PSV Eindhoven ace Cody Gakpo, who has shone at the World Cup with Holland.

Both Man United and West Ham are also said to be looking to sign a new right-back.

In fact West Ham boss Moyes actually tried to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

And recent reports have suggested he will try again for Wan-Bissaka in January.

Well there is news on both from one of Sky Sports’ top transfer reporters with the window just a couple of weeks away.

Dharmesh Sheth’s major Man United transfer update carries huge news for West Ham ahead of January window.

Because Sheth claims that Ten Hag is looking to sign Gakpo and a new right-back next month.

And while they means West Ham’s hopes of an unlikely deal for Gakpo look dead in the water, Sheth says Moyes target Wan-Bissaka will be allowed to leave Old Trafford if Ten Hag gets a replacement.

Sky Sports News has been told PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo is one of a few forward players United have been interested in…” Sheth states on Sky Sports.

“United boss Erik ten Hag has said United want to bring in a forward but “only when we find the right player” following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last month.

“United are also keeping an eye on a number of right-backs, but a move for one is likely to depend on whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves. Wan-Bissaka has not been in Ten Hag’s plans having played four minutes all season with the 25-year-old’s contract up in the summer of 2024, although the club have an option to extend for a further year.”

Wan-Bissaka would be a superb signing for West Ham.

Ben Johnson and Vladimir Coufal are doing little to prove they are the answer while the experiment of playing Thilo Kehrer at right-back has had mixed results.

Wan-Bissaka is considered one of the best one v one defenders in the Premier League. And during his breakthrough with Crystal Palace proved he can get forward too when given licence and encouragement.

Gakpo was always a long shot for a club like West Ham, especially after shining on the world stage. And Sheth says PSV want record money for the young star which will surely rule the Hammers out once and for all.
