There is a major update from France on the West Ham pursuit of PSG striker Hugo Ekitike with January move in motion.
Despite a brilliant summer window, West Ham were actively working to sign one player in particular on deadline day.
As reported on Hammers News the day after the window closed, a report in France claimed West Ham made a last ditch bid to finally sign Hugo Ekitike from PSG.
Technical director Tim Steidten had reportedly already held face-to-face talks with PSG and Ekitike’s representatives and they were impressed by what he had to say.

Major update from France on West Ham pursuit of PSG striker Hugo Ekitike with January move in motion
On deadline day Hammers News spoke to our top source inside West Ham and were told any arrivals were “unlikely” as the club were linked with moves for a striker.
And so it proved.
The deal never materialised, though, and Ekitike – who West Ham wanted to sign when he was at Reims – remained at PSG where he has seen just nine minutes of Ligue 1 action so far this season.
That does not appear to be the end of the story when it comes to Ektike and West Ham, though, it seems.
Last month a journalist claimed West Ham were still working on a deal to sign the striker when the winter window opens in just over two months’ time.
Now there’s a major update from France on West Ham’s pursuit of PSG striker Ekitike with a January move in motion.

PSG want West Ham target out, striker wants move to new league and unnamed English club already working on deal
Foot Mercato claims that PSG ‘higher-ups’ remain angry that Ekitike was not offloaded to West Ham in the summer as he has played just nine minutes since.
The report highlights West Ham’s attempts to sign him and claims the French giants are determined to sell him as soon as the January window opens.
Not only that but it is also stated Ekitike wants to move to a different league and an unnamed English club have a move already in motion.
“Interest from abroad is more appealing to Ekitiké,” the report states.

Hammers need a new striker and will lose Kudus and co for five or six games from January
“An unnamed English club is reportedly interested in signing the PSG forward and could make a move early in the January transfer window.
“Ekitiké is targeting playing for France at the 2024 Olympic games and is currently out of favour in the eyes of Thierry Henry while his minutes at the Parc des Princes remain limited making a move the most likely option.”
Failing to sign a striker in the summer is already looking like a big mistake from West Ham. Especially if they want to compete for the European spots.
It must also be remembered the Hammers will lose four players for five or six big games to the African Nations between January and February – including Mohammed Kudus.
