A sensational claim has been made about an incident behind the scenes at West Ham and it could dictate key man’s future if true.
It already seems like a long time ago but back in the summer things were threatening to unravel at West Ham.
With the club struggling to get players signed following the arrival of Tim Steidten as the club’s new technical director, rumours of unrest were rife.
There was always going to be some transitional friction given David Moyes had been in charge of West Ham’s transfers up to that point.
In July – just weeks after Steidten’s appointment, it was claimed by 90 Min journalists Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth on the Talking Transfers podcast that Steidten could be prepared to walk away from his role less than one month into the job.

In a bid to rubbish such talk Hammers News spoke to our top source inside West Ham.
But he only confirmed that Steidten was indeed ‘finding the manager very hard work’.
Moyes then opened up and admitted his relationship with Steidten was a work in progress.
A middleground seemed to be found just days before the season began, though, as Edson Alvarez became West Ham’s first signing. He was followed by James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mohammed Kudus in what was widely regarded as one of the best windows of any Premier League club.

Moyes is in the last year of his contract and there has been question marks over his long-term future.
As Hammers technical director Steidten will play a key role in Moyes future whether directly or indirectly.
Because the Scot and German will have to work together closely should Moyes be offered – and want to sign – an extension.
Now a sensational claim has been made about an incident behind the scenes at West Ham and it could dictate key man’s future if true.

Football Insider says a top source at the club has told them Moyes and Steidten nearly physically came to blows over transfers in the summer.
And the report states West Ham have now started ‘doing due diligence’ on a replacement for the manager at the end of the season.
“It is believed neither the club nor the manager is in any rush to kick-start talks over a potential extension after a lukewarm start to the new season…” the report states.
“Tension with director of football Tim Steidten could also play a part in the decision on Moyes.
“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the two came to blows during the summer window over the direction of West Ham’s transfer business.”
It’s one thing to have a disagreement. But it’s some claim to make that the duo almost came to blows. It sounds somewhat unbelievable. But the truth, as they say, will out from eventually.
