Lyon have put West Ham winker Moussa Dembele up for sale as a pointed David Moyes warning proves prophetic.
“I think in the end football comes around, it is a strange thing football, it comes around and you have got to be careful.”
That was the warning from West Ham boss Moyes after Dembele’s now infamous wink when he dived to get Aaron Cresswell sent off in the Europa League quarter-final clash with Lyon last season.
West Ham strode into the Europa League semi-finals with a superb 3-0 victory away at Lyon sealing a 4-1 aggregate win.
The odds had been stacked against West Ham when Cresswell was ludicrously sent off in the 1-1 draw in the first leg at the London Stadium despite barely touching diver Dembele.
To rub salt in the wound Dembele was caught on camera winking having successfully conned hapless referee Felix Zwayer.
That enraged West Ham boss Moyes and everyone connected with the club.
Well it seems Moyes was right with his pointed warning to the striker after he dabbled in the dark arts to try and cheat the Hammers.
Because now Lyon have put West Ham winker Dembele up for sale as the Moyes warning proves prophetic.
The reports claim Lyon very much want Dembele to leave having re-signed Alexandre Lacazette.
Ironically Dembele is reportedly a longstanding former target of Moyes at West Ham as recently as last year (The Sun).
But no matter how desperate the Scot gets in his striker search he certainly won’t be turning to Dembele the winker.
Life comes at you fast Moussa.
And this gives West Ham’s nickname for their manager – the Moyesiah – even more credibility after his prophecy!
