A Sky Sports reporter has lifted the lid on Lille’s reaction to West Ham’s new bid for midfield star Amadou Onana.
And it is extremely encouraging news for West Ham and David Moyes.
It is widely reported that Moyes wants to bring in another central midfielder.

The departures of Mark Noble and Alex Kral left West Ham with just Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in that crucial position. And there remains a degree of uncertainty over Soucek’s future.
Moyes has signed Flynn Downes and wants another central midfielder with giant 6ft 5in Onana clearly the first choice.
Earlier this week Hammers News reported claims from France that Lille had performed a U-turn in their stance over selling giant Belgian midfielder Onana.

L’Equipe have claimed the French club could now be open to selling the 20-year-old for £35m.
Having seen their first two bids rejected, West Ham have submitted a third offer for Onana.
Now there has been an intriguing update from transfer specialist Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports reporter has lifted the lid on Lille’s reaction to West Ham’s new bid for midfield star Onana.

The offer is said to be £32.5m plus add-ons. And Sheth claims Lille are now ‘seriously considering’ the Hammers bid as they stand to make over £30m profit in just one year.
“West Ham United have made an improved offer for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana,” Sheth said on Twitter.
“The third bid is thought to be €38m (£32.5m) plus add-ons.
“Lille are seriously considering the offer. They bought him for €7m (£6m) from Hamburg last summer.”

Sheth’s account – as well as L’Equipe’s claim about the fee Lille want – does not tally with word coming from a West Ham insider speaking to the website Claret and Hugh this weekend.
Their sources claim the club’s third offer for Onana falls some £30m short of the 6ft 5in ace’s £60m asking price.
“West Ham are continuing to chase Lille midfielder Amadou Onana but despite making an increased bid the club is well away from the required price,” Claret and Hugh state.

“Having launched a £30 million bid a week ago the Hammers were told by the French Ligue One club that they wanted closer to £60 million.
“A Hammers insider – in revealing the news – made it clear that the club weren’t prepared to go that high saying: “He is a player we like very much but there are other targets.”
Let’s hope Sheth is right and the Hammers see their third bid accepted to get this exciting deal done.
