L'Equipe provide big update on West Ham signing Nayef Aguerd from Rennes

West Ham United are reportedly getting closer and closer to signing talented centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Rennes.

That’s according to a report from L’Equipe who claim that the 26-year-old defender’s move to the London Stadium is looking more and more likely with every day that passes.

Interestingly though, L’Equipe claim that West Ham and Rennes have still not reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Aguerd.

The 19-capped Morocco international is a sensational defender and will be a superb addition to the Hammers’ ranks.

It is slightly worrying how we are dragging this one out though.

It seems like the Hammers could be closing in on a deal to sign the 26-year-old though…

West Ham getting closer to signing Aguerd

L’Equipe reckon that despite the fact that the Hammers and Rennes haven’t actually agreed a fee to sign the Moroccan, he is closing in on a move to the London Stadium.

We just need to get this one done and dusted asap.

The 26-year-old has been described as a ‘magnificent’ defender by Morocco Detail Zero.

And he’s left-footed so is the ideal long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna.

In 31 Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes this season, Aguerd averaged one interception, one tackle and 4.1 clearances per game. He also won 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

The Morocco international made 71.7 passes per game on average and recorded an impressive completion rate of 89% (Who Scored).

Aguerd possesses exceptional ball-playing ability as well and this would help increase our resistance to the press from the opposition.

Whether the fee for the centre-back is £13 million, £20 million or £30 million, it doesn’t really matter. We just have to get this one wrapped up as soon as possible.

West Ham signing Aguerd should be a foregone conclusion really. All we can do now is keep our fingers crossed that the club announce the deal sooner rather than later.
