Jacob Steinberg: West Ham could sell talented Emmanuel Longelo before 11pm deadline

West Ham United reportedly could sell Emmanuel Longelo to Birmingham City on a permanent deal for just £400,000.

That’s according to Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg who claims that Longelo could leave West Ham to join Birmingham permanently for a nominal fee tonight.

The 22-year-old was linked with a permanent exit from the London Stadium in the summer, with Rangers eyeing him up.

Longelo ended up joining Birmingham on a season-long loan deal instead though. He has been a huge hit at St Andrews, and it seems as though the Championship side now want to sign him permanently…

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg reckons that the young left-back could be set to join Brum on a £400k deal tonight.

The talented youngsters just keep leaving the London Stadium one after the other don’t they.

First it was Sonny Perkins and Aji Alese in the summer and now Harrison Ashby has jumped ship to join Newactle.

Longelo seemingly could be the next young talent to move on.

It was claimed back in the summer that David Moyes doesn’t feel as though the youngster is at the level required to play Premier League football and as such, he will be allowed to leave the London Stadium (The Sun).

That’s a strange conclusion to make from Moyes, considering just how good the 22-year-old was for the senior side during our Europa League clash with Dinamo Zagreb back in December 2021. In fact, he was arguably the best player on the pitch.

The Birmingham loanee is incredibly dynamic, is absolutely rapid and is a very solid defender. He’s pretty good going forward as well.

In my opinion, West Ham will end up regretting allowing Emmanuel Longelo to leave the London Stadium permanently.

However, whether Birmingham manage to get this one over the line before tonight’s 11pm deadline remains to be seen.
