An incredible Tim Steidten claim has been made two weeks into the job as West Ham ramp up the post Declan Rice rebuild.

West Ham appointed Tim Steidten as the club’s new technical director in charge of recruitment and transfers at the start of July.

It came after a string of reports prior stated West Ham’s owners had been extremely disappointed with the club’s transfers in recent windows.

So much so that David Sullivan led the drive to hire a top level director of football to oversee recruitment.

The Hammers moved to clarify the role of Steidten given David Moyes has always let it be known he wants final say on signings.

In a statement announcing the German’s appointment, West Ham pointed to Steidten’s instant success with his data-led approach to recruitment at previous club Bayer Leverkusen. And the Irons will clearly be hoping that is the case at the London Stadium.

“Steidten will be responsible for the club’s overarching player recruitment strategy and scouting department, working closely with manager David Moyes and sporting director Mark Noble,” West Ham said in a statement.

West Ham supporters are growing extremely frustrated by the lack of transfer activity from the club so far this window.

The season starts a month today and no arrivals have been forthcoming as yet. In fact West Ham are just one of three Premier League clubs not to have made a signing in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers are said to be furious with Arsenal as they wait for the first tranche of money from the Gunners for Declan Rice – which will be over £33m – before they commit to any deals.

But now an incredible Steidten claim has been made two weeks into job as West Ham ramp up post Rice rebuild.

New man in charge of transfers has mammoth list of 20 targets and enquiries are in on all of them

Because Steidten has a mammoth list of 20 targets and West Ham have made enquiries on all of them.

And while none of the deals are close as yet, that will be hugely encouraging to hear for West Ham fans.

That’s according to a West Ham insider speaking to Claret and Hugh.

Better still the source claims offers are being made despite the Rice delay, because West Ham know the money will eventually land in the near future.

“A club insider confirmed that the Hammers were enquiring over the availability of up to 20 names as they process a lengthy target list…” the report states.

“New West Ham technical director Tim Steidten is getting up to speed and discussing transfer options with other stakeholders…

“West Ham’s board want to be sure the Rice money will be spent wisely to give maximum return on investment so do know what to rush transfers for the sake of it or to appease supporters impatient for summer signings.”
