Image rights need to be sorted out before West Ham can confirm the signing of Luizao from Sao Paulo on a free transfer in January.

That’s according to a report from Brazilian outlet IG Esporte who claim that a deal to bring the 20-year-old centre-back to the London Stadium is all but done.

However, there is still one thing in particular that needs to be addressed.

West Ham have apparently already agreed a deal to sign young Brazilian defender Luizao on a free transfer.

David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium, with the addition of a talented young central defender with a high ceiling very much on the agenda.

And it seems as though the Hammers are inching ever closer to making that happen…

Brazilian outlet IG Esporte claim that while the Hammers are on the verge of completing a deal for the 6ft 1in centre-back, the dispersion of image rights is something that still needs to be addressed.

Hopefully we manage to get this one done and dusted asap.

Luizao might be totally unproven in the Premier League and very rough around the edges, but signing him on a free transfer would negate the risks involved in the deal.

The 20-year-old is an aggressive young defender whose playing style is quintessentially South American, what with his tenacity and aggression.

He’s a very good tackler and is commanding in the air. It does seem as though Luizao has all of the attributes needed to succeed in England with West Ham.

He is obviously one very much for the future rather than the here and now though. The Brazilian is still very rough around the edges and he needs to really work on his passing and composure when in possession.

Having said that, I’d still love to see West Ham confirm the signing of Luizao in January.
