Sao Paulo centre-back Luizao has allegedly signed a pre-contract agreement with West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.

Brazilian football reporter Andre Hernan claims that that the 20-year-old defender is all set to join the Hammers on a free transfer in January.

Sao Paulo manager Rogerio Ceni has already admitted that Luizao will almost certainly leave the Brazilian giants in the new year.

And now it seems as though he’ll be plying his trade in England.

David Moyes desperately needs to add more quality youth options to his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium.

Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are now 34 and 32 respectively, whilst the latter faces an uncertain future with the Hammers.

And it seems as though Moyes has a plan in place to address that particular issue…

West Ham agree Luizao deal

We actually think that he would be a smart addition for the Hammers.

Luizao might be totally unproven in the Premier League and very rough around the edges, but signing him on a free transfer would negate the risks involved in the deal.

The 20-year-old is an aggressive young defender whose playing style is quintessentially South American, what with his tenacity and aggression.

He’s a very good tackler and is commanding in the air. It does seem as though Luizao has all of the attributes needed to succeed in England with West Ham.

He is obviously one very much for the future rather than the here and now though. The Brazilian is still very rough around the edges and he needs to really work on his passing and composure when in possession.

Having said that, I’d still love to see Luizao join West Ham in January.
