Nuno Espirito Santo has some big decisions to make at West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.

West Ham are currently in 18th place and need the three points against Brighton on Sunday to end the weekend outside the bottom three.

Nottingham Forest are three points clear of the Hammers in 17th, but have not scored as many goals as the London Stadium outfit, so would end the weekend in the relegation zone even if Brighton are to lose by a goal.

Luis Guilherme and Igor Julio appear set for January exits

Luis Guilherme and Igor Julio both started for the Irons in their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

However, they could only make the bench in the following game against Liverpool, with Guilherme coming on in the second half.

While their inclusion led to the assumption that Nuno has started to trust them, it was all the more baffling to see both of them absent from the matchday squad on Thursday night against Manchester United.

Nuno opted to name an extremely young bench and even hand a first-team debut to Mo Kante rather than including Guilherme on the bench.

The 19-year-old and Julio’s absence could be an indicator that the manager wants them out and with regard to Julio, the Hammers could ask Brighton to recall him.

Along with these two, Niclas Fullkrug also appears set to leave West Ham.

He does not seem to be up for it whenever he’s brought off the bench and has lost his starting berth to Callum Wilson.

James Ward-Prowse is another player who is expected to be on his way out in the coming weeks.

Who will West Ham sign in January?

It is important to get players out of the door before signing new ones, and it is expected to be a busy window at the London Stadium.

West Ham want a new striker as Nuno wants someone in their prime leading the line for the rest of the season.

Franculino Dju is a name admired by the hierarchy and a potential move could be on the cards for him.

West Ham also want Charlie Cresswell, as Nuno wants to shore up his defence, particularly if Julio is on his way out.

It remains to be seen how many players the Irons succeed in bringing to the club in the coming weeks.
