Forget Harry Maguire because a star West Ham are reportedly closing in on is a ‘monster’ says expert on Konstantinos Mavropanos move.

West Ham fans had slowly started to come around to the idea of signing much-criticised Man United outcast Harry Maguire.

But Hammers supporters no longer have to worry about whether the 30-year-old would be capable of rediscovering anything like his best form at the London Stadium.

Because West Ham’s on-off pursuit of Maguire was finally ended yesterday.

David Moyes and Tim Steidten are not messing around when it comes to signing an alternative according to reports.

It has been reported that West Ham are set to sign a Maguire alternative by Friday.

And it appears that man could be Stuttgart and Greece defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

talkSPORT claim the Hammers are in talks to sign former Arsenal player Mavropanos.

West Ham fans can be forgiven for not knowing too much about the 25-year-old, who made just eight appearances for the Gunners after being signed as a 20-year-old.

Hammers fans in for a treat according to exciting transfer verdict

But the Hammers are in for a very pleasant surprise if Moyes and Steidten do get a deal over the line for Mavropanos.

Forget Maguire because star West Ham are reportedly closing in on is a ‘monster’ says an expert on the Mavropanos move.

Football expert and presenter Dougie Critchley – of Football Daily and Sky Sports – says West Ham will be much better off with Mavropanos than Maguire.

Astonishing fact revealed about potential West Ham signing

“Really like the fact West Ham are now looking at Mavropanos,” Critchley said.

“Five years younger than Maguire, considerably cheaper and with a reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s best young centre backs, I like it a lot.

“Aerial monster, most interceptions in the Bundesliga and a goal threat.”

Among that gushing praise, the big thing that will jump out at West Ham fans is the fact the 19-capped international has the most interceptions in the Bundesliga.

That is some statistic. Maguire snubbing West Ham could be the best thing to happen to the club in this summer transfer window.

And it very much seems that Moyes – who has been swimming against in the tide behind the scenes at West Ham in pushing for Maguire – may have been saved from himself on this one.
