Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign West Ham target Benoit Badiashile from Monaco in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who also claims that the 21-year-old centre-back is keen to join Chelsea as well.

That will come as a major blow for West Ham, with David Moyes allegedly trying to bring the Frenchman to the London Stadium.

Signing a top-class centre-back should be one of Moyes’s main priorities in the January transfer window. Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are now 34 and 32 respectively, whilst the latter has been heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, there are huge injury concerns regarding Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.

Badiashile would be a big statement signing for the Hammers, but Chelsea boss Graham Potter is seemingly ready to scupper Moyes’ plan by bringing the Monaco ace to Stamford Bridge…

Chelsea lead Benoit Badiashile race

The towering central defender will undoubtedly go on to become one of the world’s very best centre-backs.

Badiashile seems to be set to move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League in order to take the step up to the next level.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he’s now in advanced talks to join Chelsea:

What a signing Badiashile will be for whichever club eventually wins the race for his signature.

He has been described as a brilliant young talent by well-renowned Total Football Analysis. Meanwhile, Ligue 1’s official website have labelled him as ‘unstoppable’.

In 24 Ligue 1 outings for Monaco last season, the young Frenchman averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 2.8 clearances and 2.4 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

The 21-year-old comes into his own when it comes to technique, composure and ability with the ball at his feet. He made 57.3 passes on average per match this season and recorded a completion rate of 87.9% (Who Scored).

He is renowned for making line breaking, progressive passes through the centre of the opposition’s midfield and its absolutely brilliant at beating the press.

£35 million sounds like outstanding value for the Monaco ace.

I would absolutely love to see Badiashile at the London Stadium, but the competition for his services just seems to be too fierce.

Unfortunately for us, it seems as though Chelsea are in pole position to sign Benoit Badiashile. And if they sign him it will very much be their gain and our loss.
