An exciting reason David Moyes may be willing to sell Craig Dawson to Wolves has emerged as West Ham move for Serie A star Rodrigo Becao.
The Hammers travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in a huge six-pointer this weekend.
And off the pitch Moyes and Julen Lopetegui must scramble to do business in their bid to avoid the drop.
Ironically one of those potential deals involve the two clubs with Wolves pushing to try and sign Dawson – just as they did in the summer.
As most Hammers fans will be aware, Dawson wants to move to a club further north for family reasons.
Journalist Darren Lewis claimed this week that West Ham are willing to let Dawson join Wolves as they plan on signing an upgrade this month.
The in his press conference on Friday afternoon, West Ham boss Moyes made the Dawson situation clear after confirming a bid from Wolves.
Speaking in his pre-Wolves press conference, the Scot opened up on the Dawson situation.
We’ve had an offer from Wolves,” Moyes told the press (whufc.com).
“We’ve not accepted it and that’s as much as I can tell you.”
Some have questioned whether it would be wise for West Ham to sell Dawson to a direct relegation rival.
But it appears Lewis may have called the situation spot on.
Because an exciting reason Moyes may be willing to sell Dawson to Wolves has emerged as West Ham move for Serie A star Rodrigo Becao.
According to 90Min, West Ham are looking to try and sign the 26-year-old Brazilian centre-back from Udinese.
The signing is not close at the time of writing, but 90Min claim Becao is a player West Ham have been scouting closely as they chase a loan with an option to buy deal with the Serie A club.
“David Moyes’ desire to add further depth is perhaps an indication that the Hammers are prepared to allow Craig Dawson to join Wolves – 90min followed up on the interest from Julen Lopetegui’s side on Friday morning – if the terms are right, though it’s likely a move will only be sanctioned once a replacement has been sourced…” 90Min report.
“Sources have told 90min that 26-year-old Brazilian defender Becao is one of many players to have been watched by West Ham’s recruitment team, with a view to making a loan with an option to buy offer, but their shortlist of potential signings is extensive.”
Lewis did say his information from the club was that Moyes is eyeing an upgrade when considering letting Dawson leave.
At 26, Becao would certainly be that in terms of age and potential.
The Salvador-born star is 6ft 3in and has managed over 30 games for Udinese in each of his three seasons there.
Becao could also form a potential future central defensive partnership with compatriot Luizao, who joined West Ham on a free transfer from Sao Paulo this month.
