Confusion surrounds David Moyes’ Armando Broja move as a West Ham United insider makes a worrying Chelsea claim.

Broja has been Moyes’ prime striker target since January.

West Ham fans would concur it has been a very promising transfer window so far.

But the most important work is still to be done, particularly up front when it comes to signing a striker. And the same can be said for London rivals Chelsea.

Following the departure of Romelu Lukaku there has been uncertainty as to whether the Blues will allow Broja to leave, let alone join West Ham.

Reports of late have claimed Chelsea would only be willing to sanction a loan deal with Broja highly regarded by Thomas Tuchel (Daily Mail).

And while West Ham are desperate for a new forward, a loan with little prospect of ever making it permanent would be terrible business by the Hammers given they have had nearly two years and three windows to identify and sign a striker.

Moyes himself has admitted in the past that he is generally not a big fan of loan deals, especially in key positions.

So West Ham fans were hugely excited today by widespread reports from a host of reliable sources that the Hammers were closing on signing Broja in a permanent deal.

Fabrizio Romano, The Evening Standard, Sky Sports, 90Min, The Athletic’s David Ornstein, The BBC’s Simon Stone and The Telegraph’s Chelsea reporter Matt Law read like a who’s who of reliable football sources.

And they have all claimed Broja has left Chelsea’s US tour to return to England and seal a permanent move to West Ham.

But just as excitement builds among West Ham fans there have been conflicting comments from a top Hammers source.

Now confusion surrounds the Broja move after a West Ham insider made a worrying Chelsea claim.

Speaking to Claret and Hugh, a Hammers insider says there is no truth to the widespread claims that the club are close to signing Broja.

In fact the insider states no deal has been struck with the Blues.

“New reports that Armando Broja is close to agreeing personal terms with the Irons have received a sad rejection from the club…” a West Ham insider told Claret and Hugh.

“The reality is that the player remains very much a Chelsea player and is not close to arriving at the London Stadium…

“We were told emphatically that it simply wasn’t true, our source revealing: “Sadly as long way from agreeing anything with Chelsea.”
