Austria v Denmark: UEFA Nations League - League Path Group 1

Christian Eriksen could be West Ham bound after West Ham reportedly perform scouting mission

West Ham United sent scouts to watch Christian Eriksen and Joakim Maehle in action for Denmark against Austria in the Nations League on Monday night.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Star who claim that the Hammers are considering an offer for Eriksen and his Danish teammate.

Claret and Hugh claimed last week that West Ham manager David Moyes is eyeing up a move to bring the 114-capped Denmark international to the London Stadium on a free transfer this summer.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing for Denmark at the Euros last summer.

It wasn’t surprising that clubs were apprehensive about signing the 30-year-old. Brentford took the plunge though and he has gone on to be a huge hit with the Premier League side.

Eriksen has really impressed since moving to Brentford on a free transfer in January. He played a key role for Thomas Frank’s side.

The 30-year-old proved over the past couple of months that he still has the quality needed to make a difference in the Premier League.

The Dane bagged one goal and four assists in 11 Premier League games for the Bees last season (Transfermarkt).

Brentford allegedly have a new contract offer on the table for the former Tottenham man (Claret and Hugh) but he is currently undecided as to where his future lies…

Christian Eriksen a target for West Ham

The Daily Star reckon that Moyes dispatched scouts to watch Eriksen, and his international teammate Joakim Maehle, in action for Denmark on Monday.

Quite why Eriksen needs to be scouted is anyone’s guess. His quality is beyond question.

Perhaps Moyes just wanted to be sure that the 30-year-old still has the physical capabilities needed to succeed in the Premier League.

In my view, Christian Eriksen would be a very useful addition for West Ham this summer. There will undoubtedly be plenty of competition for his signature though.

Salary Sport claim Eriksen was on around £228k-a-week during his time with Inter Milan. He will surely have to accept a huge wage cut though, if he is to sign for West Ham. He certainly wouldn’t have been getting anything like that at Brentford.
