A board confidant claims West Ham want Man City striker Cole Palmer this summer but Pep Guardiola needs convincing to let him go.
With West Ham edging ever closer to secure Premier League safety the transfer rumour mill is already creaking into gear.
Given the future of both Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio looks very uncertain beyond this summer – with the latter turning 34 next season – it is no surprise to see the Hammers are already being linked with interest in a number of forwards.
West Ham are reported to be eyeing the likes of Boca and Italy forward Mateo Retegui as well as Coventry City’s brilliant Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres to name just two.
West Ham have also been linked with France forward Marcus Thuram after it was officially confirmed he will be leaving Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Now a new name has been added to the mix ahead of the next window.

A board confidant claims West Ham want Man City striker Cole Palmer this summer but Pep Guardiola needs convincing.
Sean Whetstone has taken to Twitter to reveal that West Ham are very keen on Manchester City’s England Under 21 forward.
But he warns Man City boss Pep Guardiola may take some convincing to let him leave the Etihad for the London Stadium.
“West Ham have a strong interest in Manchester City attacking midfielder Cole Palmer this summer but needs to persuade Pep Guardiola to part with his talented England U21 player,” Whetstone said.

Versatile Palmer has caught the eye with his ability
“Leeds United have also shown interest in the 20-year-old Man City Academy Product.
“He has been with City since he was eight and is a boy hood City fan from Wythenshawe.”
Palmer, 20, can also play on either side of a front three as well as attacking midfield. He has been a regular in the Man City squad over the last couple of seasons.
He has made 28 appearance for Man City, mostly as a substitute. But he has caught the eye with his ability.

Hammers supporters will welcome recruitment approach
West Ham fans will welcome this kind of approach to recruitment as David Moyes has promised to sign young, talented stars who are hungry to get a chance to prove themselves at the highest level.
Palmer faces a difficult task to get game time given Man City’s glittering array of star quality.
West Ham’s head of recruitment Rob Newman was poached from Man City. Although he was the head of international scouting and recruitment, he will have had a good idea of Palmer’s talents and potential.
So it could be a move that suits all parties.
Perhaps Man City might do the Hammers a favour after impressing their super fan Liam Gallagher by denting Arsenal’s title hopes at the weekend.
